Roofing and general contracting

One contractor for the roof
and the wider project.

Backsider holds a Florida Certified General Contractor licence, CGC1523985, alongside the roofing licence. In the words of the statute, a general contractor is one "whose services are unlimited as to the type of work."

What the licences actually say

Both Florida contractor licenses are on the public record.

Certified General Contractor CGC1523985

Section 489.105(3)(a), Florida Statutes: a contractor "whose services are unlimited as to the type of work which he or she may do, who may contract for any activity requiring licensure under this part, and who may perform any work requiring licensure under this part."

Certified Roofing Contractor CCC1330919

Section 489.105(3)(e): unlimited within the roofing trade, covering roofing, waterproofing and coating, and the sheathing, fascia and roof to wall work that goes with it.

Both license records are available through the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

What we take on

New construction and renovation.

Two kinds of work sit under the general contractor licence, and they run differently.

New construction

Building from the ground up, or a structure added to an existing property. Permitting, the trade sequence and inspections are coordinated as one job rather than handed off between separate contractors.

Renovation and remodel

Work inside a building that is already standing, and usually still occupied. Scope tends to change once walls are open, so the value is in scheduling around the people living or working there and keeping one record of what changed and why.

Storm damage and community work run on the same licence. A whole community is a different engagement from a single address, and it is covered here.

Who we work for

Property types for project enquiries

  • Residential
  • Commercial
  • Church and institutional
  • HOA and condominium
  • Property management

A community is a different engagement from a single address. If you are a board member or a property manager, start with a walkthrough request.

Worth saying plainly

An unlimited licence is not a portfolio.

The license describes the work a company is permitted to undertake. Relevant project experience is a separate question. Tell us what you need built or changed so we can confirm whether Backsider is the right contractor for the scope.

Common questions

General contracting questions

What can a Florida certified general contractor do?

Section 489.105(3)(a), Florida Statutes defines a general contractor as one whose services are unlimited as to the type of work, who may contract for any activity requiring licensure under that part and perform any work requiring licensure under it. Backsider holds that licence, CGC1523985.

Is that different from the roofing licence?

Yes, and Backsider holds both. The roofing licence, CCC1330919, is defined at 489.105(3)(e) as unlimited within the roofing trade including waterproofing and coating. The general contractor licence covers work beyond the roof.

Does holding an unlimited licence mean you have built everything?

No. A license establishes the permitted scope of work. Project experience must be considered separately. Describe your project so we can confirm whether Backsider is the right contractor for it.

Do you self perform or subcontract?

Both, depending on the trade. Roofing and the exterior envelope are the core. Other trades are performed by subcontractors who go through a documented onboarding: licence, insurance, W-9 and trade verification before they are eligible for a work order.

Do you work on commercial and community projects?

The vendor system qualifies work across residential, commercial, church and institutional, HOA and condominium, and property management. For a community, start with a walkthrough request rather than a single address.
